If you’re a high school sports fan in the midwest, it’s a good bet you’ve enjoyed games from grandstands Heartland Seating has designed and installed. We’ve completed seating projects for over 1,000 venues across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Our humble beginnings date back to the early 80’s when Mike & Arliss Peterson started selling bleachers to local schools from their Kansas City basement. Heartland Seating Inc. was officially incorporated in 1991, and the business grew as a mom-and-pop operation through the early 2000’s.

As Mike and Arliss approached retirement they started looking for a buyer. They didn’t need to look far. Brad Peterson knew he always wanted to run a business, but hadn’t considered taking up the mantle of the family business until his dad approached him about it. It turned out to be a great fit.

Brad moved Heartland out of his parents’ house and into an office in downtown Shawnee. He hired and trained a sales staff, and business boomed. In 2007, Brad’s wife Kathy joined to help manage the growth.

Today, Heartland Seating has 17 employees, including a dedicated installation team and service department. We average over 475 projects per year and we’re one of the only companies in the midwest that specializes exclusively in spectator seating.

Brad still heads up sales and Kathy oversees the day-to-day operations of the office.

Focusing exclusively on seating design and installation has allowed us to deepen our expertise, recruit top personnel, and be people’s go-to company for seating.

Thirty years and two generations since our humble beginnings, we still take tremendous pride in each project. We value our reputation and yours. There’s no better feeling in our work than to help our clients transform a venue from an idea to a state of the art facility with good seating and sight lines.
